Ah, so can we blame Renoir?!

The companion website and celebration of all things female and fluffy is Fluffy Woman:

Like you, my 'political statement' part of my reasoning is often hidden by trousers 99% of the time. In summer, I do wear skirts/dresses, but they are also to the ankle!

As well as being 'less to do' for all these stupid high-maintenance 'feminine' rituals (saving both time and money), it also saves a lot of energy - by never worrying about it, or even thinking about it.

Nice one! I blogged about the same program. I'm choosing to see it as a good start, rather than feel disappointed by Mirza's overarching need for all things "feminine"!

Viva la body hair!

I really think the only way we're going to change this is by grassroots (hehe) hairy activism : women growing out hair out and not being ashamed to wear vest tops and shorts / skirts that expose it. Seeing happy, confident, hairy women who have no issues with their body hair, who indeed take pleasure and increased confidence from it, will slowly make people realise that it is not disgusting and wrong. I have been surprised at the number of people who have reacted positively to my hair - and they were generally surprised too! - while my boyf has learnt not to hate it and to embrace it as part of who I am as a woman.

Having said that, I don't think I could go to a work interview with obviously hairy legs, I don't know - sometimes you do just have to conform to get places, which sucks, but that's the way it is at the moment. We shall see when the time comes.

As for the idea of a fashion show? Well I don't want body hair to be seen necessarily as sth attractive or, worse still, something to be fetishized. It should just be a natural part of women that no one even really thinks about - like leg and underarm hair on men.

One day...

"Well I don't want body hair to be [...] something to be fetishized"

Sadly, there are some who already do, (personal knowledge, over 10 years ago) had its roots in porn.

Tell me something that has NOT been fetishized (about women, women's bodies, women's clothing)?

For years I have been obsessed with hairy armpits and legs are both sexy and beautiful. My friends give much strife because I date a girl I guess you call a earth girl or hippie who does not shave her armpits or legs. I respect the fact that she does not bend to social expectations that women must shave their armpits and legs to be considered socially acceptable. She stand by the fact that it natural for women to have hair on both their armpits and legs or god would not have put it there. I love her for the very fact that she does not entertain men's expectations that she must do it or else. After researching women shaving their armpits and legs I was surprised to find out that it is just been in the last 50 years or so that it was expected that a woman shave those most delicate areas. I just wanted to know what both other women and men think about this subject. Am I crazy to love hairy women or am I a freak. Any thought or comments will be appreciated. Thanks for your replies.
